This is the perfect kit to keep with your dog. Yes you can build it but it's all together and tidy. Dont forget a muzzle to keep you both safe!

I bought this as a Christmas gift for my son & his GSP. My son is active duty USMC infantry & he said he may take it on deployment because it's better than what they give him :-)

Excellent Kit

This has 99% of what I was looking for. The only additions I have made are a muzzle, I.T.B, and a North American Rescue C.A.T. I like the smaller 'Field Pouch' to be able to prioritize a smaller IFAK to have on me for my dog, and keep the rest of the kit at the vehicle.

Just in Case
June 8, 2022
For years I've carried a limited amount of first aid supplies for my dogs while out and about, be it hunting or playing. This Ready Dog Gun Dog First Aid Kit is a great pre-packaged bag with just about everything you need to patch your dog up until you can get to the vet. I did add a bottle of liquid antihistamine (dog refuses pills) tick remover and a couple additional cold packs. GDS came through again with super-fast shipping too.

I included a picture of Bella, my son's hunting dog. She is a good pointer of birds but here, she is pointing my guinea pig! Good quality products!

Good but.

This is a fairly comprehensive kit for the field. Now the but, The first aid manual is good for beginners, however not being a veterinarian I do not have access to stuff like lidocaine in hvpodermics and some of the the things that are talked about in the book. Have added several items to the kit that could come in handy. Best thing to do is know where the Vet is in the area you are hunting, get a card from them with phone numbers, and know how to get there if something does happen. This kit will give you the basics of what you need to help your dog if something does happen. Read the book and understand the issues before you go out.

The first aide book included is great. A lot of the treatments do not have the product in the kit called for in the book.

I considered building my own kit at first, but the price point wasn't too far off and the effort involved was more than I was willing to give. This kit met my expectations and comes with I would imagine would meet most field scenarios. The book that comes with it was helpful, and I learned some things. Like Steve says, the book is the first tool in a first aid kit. The expiration dates on perishables is on par to what you'd find in any stores. I'll feel more comfortable in the field knowing I have a capable kit, and the ability to provide first aid to my dog. Better to have it and not need it, than....you know the rest.

Lots of stuff that I hope to never need... Scissors could use a smaller blunt end. Hard to get under tape if it is wrapped semi-tight. Also would be nice if it came with Saline Wound Flush, Tweezers, EMT Gel, Styptic Pencil. I added these items to make it a little more field friendly. As well as some baking soda and lemon dish soap to add to the Peroxide after playing with a skunk. that will happen!! It is a great kit as is though.

Several years back my Springer got caught by an old rusty strand of barbed wire. It opened him up from jaw to sheath. I was several hours away from the nearest vet. My previous version of this kit saved his life. Got this one as the old one was so well used. Hope you don't need it, but have it if you do.

I would like to have more tape in different widths and some type of lube for thermometer. Very good price for what you get.
