TBI Dog HobbleAn important training aid in force breaking dogs to retrieve.TBI dog hobbles are an important training aid in force breaking dogs to retrieve as seen in the TriTronics Retriever Training book and Hold and Fetch DVD (see video excerpt). Problems dog hobbles can solve while your dog is on point: How to use Dog Hobbles: Place the velcro straps with the attached D-Rings around each front leg and one hind leg of the dog. When the dog goes on point, go to its side and stroke the dogs back and style up its tail. Attach two snaps to each D-ring on the front legs. Move one hind leg forward and attach the remaining snap to the D-ring. Hobbles should be positioned. Now move away from the dog, letting it stand on point. The dog is now hobbled and cannot break point. When the dog starts to break point, the hobbles restrict the movement of the feet causing the dog to fall on its face! When you are ready to release the dog to retrieve, go to the dog's side, calm the dog and then command to retrieve.

Not using it for hunting
January 7, 2023
Did not buy this to use on a hunting dog. Just got a pup (German Shepard mix) for Christmas and need to stop her from jumping on people since she will be a bigger dog. We have a handicap person in a wheelchair in our house and Sparkle could tip her over if not trained correctly. So, am using a leg strap and a homemade nylon strip with swivel hooks on each end and hooking it to her collar. Working really good to help teach her to stop jumping on people. Only leave it on for about 10 minutes at a time when she is active and running about. Once she stops jumping we take it off. It doesn't keep her from running and playing, which is the object of the lesson.

Dog Hobble

I've used these hobbles for 40 year and use them for grooming. If your tired of fighting your dog when grooming them (fantastic for nails) put the hobble on first (I use four hobbles one for each foot) and it minimizes the resistance.

I actually got this for my setter. It is made for Retrievers to hold when the bird flushes....a little work and it works for a pointing breed too.

I like these hobbles for keeping a dog's front feet isolated while doing FF.

Stops cold any jumping behavior that my female tries, or trying to jump into your arms for protection while on the force fetch table while under pressure.
