    Tip Up Bird Releaser
    April 19, 2024
The Tip-Up Bird Releaser is very well constructed and allows maximum airflow thru for scenting. The tip up releaser is a fantastic training aid which I use solely or in addition to a bird launcher. Unlike the launcher, the tip up releaser provides a silent more natural 'flush'.
    Pros
    • Well constructed
    • Silent, no mechanical sounds
    • Economical
    • Simple to use
    • Light and easy to carry to field
    • No parts to fix or repair
    Cons
    • A very lively bird can flip the trap up and escape. This can be resolved with a small stone for additional weight or a small tent peg to hold down.

    Tip up trap
    March 17, 2022
This product is just what is needed for the young learning pointing dog. Works perfectly with Chuck's. Be sure the trap has good ground contact so they cannot pry up the edge and sneak out. My friends and I have six traps which provides a good long run for the dogs to find their six birds
    Pros
    • Good size, good price, works perfectly
    Cons
    • Can be a bit hard to find if the dog runs past it. A piece of surveyors tape on the frame works great to help find lost traps

Do the job; but add orange tape.
    October 19, 2024
These work quite well on quail and chukars; too small for pheasants. My only cautionary comment is that they can be really hard to locate if you walk away without picking one up after flushing the bird. I strongly recommend that you attach a long piece of orange tape to them (or be prepared to rebuy more). (The little bits of colored tape that come on the handles are essentially useless.)

    Affordable Alternative to Launcher
    October 6, 2024
Exactly what I needed and way less expensive than bird launchers. Heavy enough to hold even large chuckar on ground until you're ready to release. Just remember that (unlike a launcher) the birds may choose to run rather than fly
    Pros
    • Price.
    Cons
    • If working steadiness, you'll need two people. A launcher would let you do live bird work by yourself.

    Great for training.
    June 28, 2024
Love these top ups they are a great addition for training. When you want to move beyond your bird launchers but still give yourself some control on when the bird is released these are the perfect tool.
    Pros
    • Simple to use.
    Cons
    • Can be hard to find after the bird is gone.

Tip up bird release is like having a third hand
    April 3, 2024
With remote bird releases you need one hand for your training pistol, one for bird release transmitter and one for training collar transmitter. By using your foot to release the bird, it better simulates flushing a bird and allows quicker firing your training pistol and correcting dog using e collar.
    Pros
    • More realistic simulation of bird flush and quicker corrections. Also prevents dog from getting bird if it crashes in on bird.
    Cons
    • Still need remote control launcher for stop to flush training.

Nothing fancy, but they work. These are well made and heavy enough to keep pigeons in. Good for setting up simple point and steady drills. The paint on the mesh chips off quickly. Gun Dog Supply always comes through!

    Tip-up bird releaser
    May 18, 2023
In training my bird dogs for field trial I have come to appreciate this product to keep placed quail captive until I release them. I have not lost a bird before working the dog compared to how I was planting birds in the field earlier. It allows me to correct a creeping/flushing dog when on point and I can try a string to the quail and anchor it to the release to work on walking birds as well.

The green color makes them hard to find in the field especially after a flush and your concentration focuses on the dog and the retrieve. I have painted mine orange and have attached a small marker flag to the unit to aide in finding them. They are well made and I ordered 2 more after trying one out.
    Cons
    • needs to be painted a bright color

The tip up bird releaser was delivered in a timely manner. This product is perfect for our use. We are training flushing puppies and the tip up releaser allows the puppy to run in and get very close to the bird. Once released the puppy quickly learns pursuit.

    One small issue
    April 28, 2023
Great idea although birds can get out of this. I put a couple tent stakes out at the end where the bird can work it up enough to get loose. I can still step on the end to get it to lift and release the bird.
    Pros
    • Great idea
    Cons
    • Birds can get loose.

    Tip UP Bird Release
    January 27, 2023
I ordered the larger size but it is to small for pheasants just nearly fit a churker and will not hold unless it is somehow lagged into the ground. Also the wire securing the cage to the base were not closed completely which could cause injuries to the birds.
    Pros
    • May be good for quail only.
    Cons

    Tip Up Bird Releaser
    January 18, 2023
These tip ups are great for training pointing dogs. Very simple and easy to use with two people. It is harder to manage with just one person but is very doable. Heavy enough design to keep birds from escaping until you release them and very open for good scent release. I've had good success putting up to 2 birds in one tip up. They are also very easy to hide in cover.

I bought this device for Whoa and hold training of my VDD puppy. It worked great. I get solid points and patience's for good Whoa with no blinking which can be caused by a bird thrower.
    Pros
    • Quiet
    • Easy to load
    • No blinking or bumping
    Cons
    • Small birds are required

    June 28, 2022
Dogs work right up to where these babies are placed. Make sure you have strong flyers and watch them take off. All that's left is to knock them down for the dogs to pick up.
    Pros
    • Strong and heavy.
    Cons
    • It's not remote controlled.

    Tip up bird trap
    March 25, 2022
Great product. I have used them before. These are great for polishing up a broke pointing dog. This allows you to walk in and flush a bird for your dog that has been steadied to the wing keeping your two hands free to run an e-collar and a starting pistol. I am not quite ready to spend $400 on a remote launcher but this works just as well for what I need.
    Pros
    • -Price
    • - durability
    Cons
    • - Dog has to be at least steady to wing or they will catch the bird.

    Awesome: Sturdy & well ventilated
    December 22, 2021
Awesome product. I bought three last year after first using some at a pro-trainers facility. I brought mine to Germany during my recent move and used them at a training day with the local DK club. They loved the sturdy construction and open weave of the tipper. It stands up to the pressure of a dog that goes in on a bird, and the open weave allows for maximum air flow for tracking the scent. They loved them so much, I bought five more. Great product!
    Pros
    • Sturdy
    • Open weave
    Cons
    • Can be a little tough to spot (remember where you placed your birds).

    Tip up bird launcher
    September 10, 2021
Shipping and communication was fast and efficient as usual with all orders from GDS. This is heavy enough the pigeons can't fly out of it without it being tripped. This works well for steadying up a pointing dog. Put the pigeon in the tip up bring the dog in (with a check chord if necessary). Have one person control the dog while the other person walks in and steps on the tip up to release the bird. Once the dog has graduated from the launcher this is the next step. These are cheaper than a launcher so a few can be set up to make the training session more efficient.

    Great product!
    September 9, 2021
There's not much to these bird releasers, but they work! They are heavy enough to keep a pigeon in place and stable enough to keep the bird safe if your dog breaks and gets to it. I also like that with a bird in one hand and the tip up in the other, it literally takes a sec to plant a bird. You can plant birds while your dog is distracted, or working the felid. No need to put the dog up or out of sight to reload your releases, which saves valuable training time!
    Pros
    • sturdy
    • great cammo
    • no batteries or electronics to charge or fail
    • cheap compared to a launcher
    Cons
    • 1. They blend perfectly in most habitat, so they can be hard to find if you walk away and try and find it later! Attaching a couple strips of brightly colored duck tape saved a lot of frustration!
