    Hound Heater Classic Element Detail

Do not use bedding in your dog house when using the Hound Heater Classic. This includes straw, cedar shavings, beds, pillows, etc.

The Hound Heater Classic stays at about 130 degrees and will heat an average size dog house (typically 48" L X 24" T X 24" W -- approx. 16 cubic feet). At 0 degrees F outside, the house will stay around 40 degrees F. If you need to warm a larger area, multiple heaters may be installed.

The best part is it is safe and easy to install. When properly installed in an upper corner of the house, it doesn't take up any laying space for your dog. The galvanized metal housing is super strong and will last for many years, unlike traditional mat heaters. Comes with a 6-foot power cord and a1-year manufacturer's warranty.

We recommend that a Thermo Cube be used to help regulate the temperature and save energy. Monitor the temperature inside your doghouse with an indoor/outdoor thermometer.

    Power Draw: 0.75 amps

    Dimensions: 6"H x 5 1/2"W x 5 1/2"D

    Not UL listed.

    Installation Instructions:

WALL MOUNT ONLY. Not intended for floor or ceiling mounting. Failure to mount properly could result in damage to the Heater / Dog House.

    1. Measure down the wall 7" and over 7" from a top corner of the dog house.
    2. Drill a 7/8" to 1" dia. hole at the previously located mark.
    3. Run Hound Heater cord through your hole.
    4. Mount 4 screws in the base of the Hound Heater.
    5. Completed installation.

These heaters were a life saver during the recent unusually cold weather in central MS. Our girls were snug as bugs in their houses. They were easy to install. We've had no problems thus far.

Hound Heater Classic with Thermo Cube
    December 18, 2020
I installed three of these in 3 dog houses and they are working fine so far. I had a problem with one termo cube that was misconstructed. It would not plug into a standard 3-prong outlet. Gun Dog Supply promply sent a replacement, all before freezing weather set in.
    • Fairly easy to install if you can semi-fit into the dog house to attach it. I'm slim but a large or obese or handicapped person may have some trouble here unless the dog house top comes off easily. Also, you may need some sort of door covering if your dog house entry is open to keep the heat in. I made improvised doors by folding a strip of 4 mil plastic and cutting overlapping strips that close fairly well when the dog enters or exists. Leave this as a single unit with an uncut portion at the top and attach these to the inside of the dog house with two or three screws above the door opening. I tried to order these "doors" ready made but everywhere I looked they were out of stock or on back order.
    • None really. I'm happy with them.

Not as hot as I had hoped but it definitely keeps my GSP from freezing outside. Very strong material, which keeps my destructive pooch from breaking it. I put the cord in a metal pipe so my dog doesn't get to it. I would recommend it to anyone with outside dogs, who wants a simple but good warm heater.
    • Safe for wood and plastic dog houses.
    • Difficult to install if you have a hard plastic dog house.

Easy installation, paired it with Thermostat brick to save on electricity when it's warm out. Good enough to take the edge off in the dog house.

We are taking care of two feral cats and worry about them when the temps drop in Indiana. This heater is great! When they aren't inside keeping warm they are sitting on top of the house still feeling the heat!

The Hound Heater Classic works perfectly in our 8 cubic foot cat house. It is plugged into a thermostatically controlled receptacle which turns the heater on at 35 degrees and off at 45 degrees. It takes enough of the chill off that the room remains comfortable. In the past 24 hours, the kitty has spent 17 hours in the cat house keeping warm. I would recommend the Classic over the Deluxe heater if your space is 16 cubic feet or less.

Seems to work well with the thermo cube. It keeps the dog box warm enough for the hound to not have to endure the bitter cold nights of winter we will be having.

My boys love their new heater. We live in Florida, so it doesn't get below 20 very often, but when it does get chilly they are in doggy heaven with their new heater in their house. Thank you for the excellent service and product. It is exactly what we expected.
