Sportsman Brass Dog Collar Bell with Nylon Loop

These are great for keeping track of my pointers on the trails or in the field.

This is well built with a unique sound. It will work for all size of dogs and the price is reasonable. Bell hunting with pointers is a fun old twist to upland hunting.

On the 3rd time having this bell on my GSP the clacker completely broke off and the bell became useless. I use a GPS collar in addition to a bell so I always have a way to track my dog.

Used to order from Cabelas and they now only carry the cheap nickel bells. I've found over the years that the brass bells last longer and have a more clear sound. Of course, dogs do play and sometimes the bells wear out or get lost. I just order more - and feel better knowing that my pups aren't mistaken for deer when they wear the bells and hunter orange collars. Also helpful to keep track of older, deaf dogs that don't hear their name called.

The bell is very nice. It was a bit too high pitched and my pup was afraid of it initially. I placed a piece of tape around it which seemed to soften the tone and then he was fine.

This is a well made product, which is why I'm giving it 5 stars. Has taken on a nice patina over time. It's very easy to hear this bell in the quiet woods from a distance. My dog really does not like it though. I'm not gonna take stars off for that because it is a well made product, and every dog is different so your mileage may vary. The bell does sound like the example video, but what you don't necessarily get from that video is how loud it is or the high pitched undertones from it. My dog immediately reacted negatively to it, like he just sat at my feet looking dejected and didn't want to run. It made me worry about the high pitch and the volume maybe being hard on his ears. He's a treeing hound by the way. So, this is a very nicely made product, it looks and sounds great but it is not working for my dog so I'll probably also pick up one of the more lower pitched bells.

THIS IS THE THIRD ONE I HAVE PURCHASED AND NONE HAVE LASTED MORE THAN A DAY.THE METAL IS OF POOR QUALITY WHERE THE PENDELUM HANGS AND IT COMES OFF MAKING THE BELL USELESS.GUN DOG SUPPLY HAS BEEN GREAT IN REPLACING THEM BUT THIS IS THE LAST TIME I WILL PURCHASE THIS PRODUCT.

I actually went with the Swiss bell instead of the brass bell because I was concerned with the high pitch of the brass bell. The tone of the Swiss bell is nice and subtle. Works awesome and isn't deafening. Not a long range bell by any means, but within close range in dense cover, it works awesome.

Works well. Now if I can keep the dog from losing it

It works really well on the more active English Cocker. Dinger does not seem to get hung up. Loop fits over an Orvis plastic clasp.

Not loud enough for my use.

I also bought the larger copper bell and love them both. The smaller brass bell has a nice and pleasant ring. The farthest my whippet runs is about 25 feet ahead of us and I can still clearly hear it. Slips easily on and off his collar. Been worried about some bold coyote encounters. Also carry a mace gun and an air horn.

Just like one I had for another Lab over twenty years ago. Love to be able to hear his location when he's working the thick stuff.

Not quite loud enough for our use, which is alerting wildlife in a forested setting. A nice sounding bell in the low to moderate range. A larger size in the same style might have worked for us.

Works great, seems strong. Bought a similar one at an outdoors big box store (Bass Cab Mt.) for a little less money, and it broke in a week. This one is better.

My sweet Schnauzer is now deaf, so this bell allows me to keep track of her on our large lot.

If it came with a snap on the strap so that I could snap it on quickly, it would be a 5 star. Sound is clear, but not too loud.
