Garmin Instinct E 40mm Black Watch w/ Charcoal Band
Your Dog's on Point. Your Watch Already Knows.THE SHORT VERSION:The watch vibrates on your wrist when your dog points, trees, goes out of range, or triggers any other alert. Right against your skin. Doesn't matter if it's windy, if you're wearing layers, or if you've got some hearing loss from years in the field. You feel it, you look at your wrist, you go to your dog. That's it. That's why people buy this watch. --- WHO THIS IS REALLY FOR:Pro 550 Plus users --Your handheld only vibrates -- no sound alert. That vibration fires once and stops. If you missed it, you missed it. The watch puts that notification on your wrist where you can't miss it, and adds the tone option the Pro 550 Plus was never built with. Hunters with hearing loss -- As a general rule, high frequencies go first. A lot of hunters can't hear their Alpha anymore -- or can't hear it reliably in the field. The watch bypasses the sound problem entirely. You feel it. Cold-weather hunters -- Wearing four layers? Handheld stuffed in a vest pocket? The odds of feeling a single vibration through all that aren't great. The watch is on your wrist, right against your skin. Grouse hunters and tight-cover hunters -- Keep your handheld in your vest, your offhand free, and your attention on the cover. When the dog points, your wrist tells you. No digging, no fumbling, no taking your eyes off the bird. Anyone who checks their handheld too much -- Some hunters spend way too much time looking at screens. The watch reduces that. You get notified. You go to your dog. --- WHAT IT SHOWS YOU:When you're in the dog tracking widget, you see direction and distance to your dog, whether they're moving or on point, and status for all dogs connected to your handheld. The Instinct E supports up to 20 dogs through an Alpha unit. You don't have to be in the dog screen to get alerts -- notifications come through on any watch face. And you can navigate to the dog right from the wrist: direction, distance, done. --- HOW IT WORKS (IMPORTANT):The watch receives data from your handheld -- it's not independently tracking your dog. Your handheld needs to be on your body (vest, pocket, wherever you carry it). You don't have to hold it or look at it. You just need to be within range. One watch connects to one handheld. Multiple watches can share the same handheld. Switching handhelds requires removing the old connection first. We have setup videos for everything -- we'll include the link with your order. --- THE WATCH ITSELF:Monochrome display. Large tactile buttons that work with gloves on. Built to MIL-STD-810 for thermal and shock resistance. Rated 10 ATM for water. It's a rugged field tool, not a fashion piece.Battery life: up to 14 days in smartwatch mode. Steve charges his about once a week -- sometimes just during a 30-minute drive. For context, an Apple Watch gets a day if you're lucky. Outside of dog tracking, the Instinct E handles sleep tracking, heart rate monitoring, step counting, GPS activity tracking, and smart notifications from your phone. It's a real smartwatch at an entry-level price. --- NOTES:This is our entry-level Garmin watch and we carry it because it does the dog tracking job well at a price that makes sense -- especially at $299. Garmin makes watches with color displays, map views, and more advanced features. Those start around $500 and go up to $2,000-$3,000. You don't need any of that to track your dogs. The 40mm fits smaller wrists. The 45mm is available for larger wrists -- check your wrist measurement before ordering. Syncing with your phone works, but it takes a few minutes to set up. Update your watch software and your handheld software before you start pairing. --- COMPATIBLE WITH:PRO 550 PlusAlpha 300i / 300 / 200+ / 200i / 200 / 100 / 10 Astro 430 / 900 --- IN THE BOX:

Garmin Instinct E 45mm Smartwatch

I used this watch primarily to synch with my TriTronics Pro 550 Plus transmitter, so I can track my bird dog in heavy cover in the North Woods. It excelled at that. The watch's vibrate function when dog is on point is MUCH better than missing points because transmitter is in your vest pocket. It is also easier to glance at your wrist to locate Dog than constantly fishing around for the transmitter.I loved it for that use, although the Watch is too "smart" for me to fully utilize all functions . . .

watchband

I am really enjoying my Garmin dog tracking watch. For me it is much more convenient to simply check the watch instead of going to the hand held controller and trying to navigate it since it always seems to be on a different screen due to getting bumped when in the field. The watch stays on the view that I want and gives me dog point notifications and location. The only negative that I have experienced is the watchband that comes with it is too small for me and probably others as well, since I am not an oversized individual. I purchased a replacement band that is a little bigger but still only leaves me 3 extra holes. For the cost of the watch I think they could include a spacious band that could always be trimmed shorter if desired.

Excellent purchase

I got the watch because of the GPS feature for tracking my dog when hunting. It's easier (for me) to look at the watch to see where my dog is than to look at the 550 Pro handlheld. I especially like that it vibrates when my dog is on point. One slight criticism: Even though I regularly calibrate both devices, the arrow on the watch doesn't always point in the same direction as the arrow on the 550 Pro handheld. But, I have a Vizsla that hunts relatively close in and is infrequently out of sight (except when grouse hunting), so I can live with this little flaw.

It took me a little time to figure it out, but I can be a little slow with new electronics.

Thank you, Gun Dog Supply for the video to connect with the collar! You sent me the video as the instructions with the watch were very light.

I purchased the watch just for the dog tracking. I like it so much that I wear it full-time. The battery life is amazing. I recharged it on day 12 with 12% battery left. It's very comfortable and the black and white display is easy to see. The control buttons are large and tactile. Overall, I'm very surprised how much I like it
