Hunts. Family pet. Bought it for the end of the dock. I live in Michigan, so have not been able to try it yet. But it is what I was looking for. And will work great on the boat for waterfowl.

Hunts. Family pet. Haven't had boat in the water yet to try it. I have put it on boat, and it looks like it will work great.

"Easy to install and well-made."
I finally got my lab out to try this yesterday. Easy to install and well-made. The dog took to it well in shallow water, and even in swimming depth if the angle was set right and my hand on her collar to steady her on teh way up.
Two comments: -the J-hooks are long and you will probably want to cut them off once you decide on transom vs. side mount. Cut, file and round them off a bit with emery cloth. I'm going to try to find some little plastic nipples to put over the end to further prevent injury. -The j-hook mounts more securly on the side than on the transom of my jonboat. -After considering several dog ladder at several prices and reading reviews, I thin kthat this is the best on that there is available.

"Looking forward to using it more this hunting season."
By: Brian Schmidt From MD
Boykin Spaniel. Hunts. Competes. I can't give it 5-stars only because I have used it once and don't know how long it will hold up. I like how easy it mounts to the side of the boat and the dogs quickly learned to come to it to get into the boat. It doesn't take up much room in the boat when not in use. Looking forward to using it more this hunting season.

"I really like this ladder."
By: WI Duck Hunter
LAb. Hunts. Family pet. I really like this ladder. I shopped around and liked the compactness, platform, and the adjustability with this dog ladder. I have used it this past weekend with two dogs that had never used a dog ladder before and both climbed into the boat like pros. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars and my only gripe is the J hook bolt system that holds it to the boat. When not in use you have to completely unscrew the J hook bolts and take them out to fold it up flat. If you don't the hooks hit on the platform and will get bent as I found out the hard way.

"This dog ladder/platform is well constructed"
By: John Cooper From SD
Hunts. Family pet. This dog ladder/platform is well constructed, and best of all, it works to both load a dog, let it shake off and then doubles as an outside the boat place to have the dog sit and watch. The J-bolt mount is a little cumbersome to take on and off in cold weather, but I can't think of any other way to have a versatile mounting system.

Lab. Hunts. Family pet. I like the looks of it and it hooks on the boat easily. Fast shipping too!! The platform is a little to small for an 80lbs lab (the size of a lock-on deer stand platform would be better). It doesn't have enough adjustments to get it lower. I have it on a 17' g3 bass boat that doesn't have tall sides and rides low in the water. The platform is on the last adjustment hole and only sits 1or 2 inches in the water, so I don't see this working on a boat with tall sides unless its modified. I also had to modify some pieces of hard rubber over the j-hook bolt because it stuck out 4 inches and looked dangerous for the dog(i probably could have cut the excess off). I'm gonna modify an extension step off of it to help the dog get on it better.

Hunts. Family pet. I have a small Lab (55 lbs). The platform is pretty small for her. I also have a seaark duck hawk, so a normal duck boat and even mounted to the side it hardly makes it to the water. Dog needs a lot of help getting in. I've only had it out with her once, so might need more practice. I ended up adding on to the ramp itself to get it under water more so she can get her back legs on and get up in the boat. J Bolts are way too long and will need to be trimmed to prevent potential injury. Overall good design, and lightweight. Just missed the boat on several things. I don't think there is anyway a big hunting dog could use this ramp without modifications.

Hunts. I will be returning it shortly. Not wide enough for large dogs. Also, the cables and ends of J hooks are dangerous for a dog entering the boat.

Hunts. My biggest issue with the ladder is the J-hooks. On my boat they stick out at least 6 inches directly towards the space in which your dog is expected to come up the ladder. Without modifying the hooks, my dog ripped open his brand new neoprene vest within the first five uses getting into my boat. I am aware that I could modify the hooks, but after paying $120 for a simple folding platform, I believe it should arrive in a finished state. If nothing else they should include rubber stoppers to put over the j-hook screws. I also did not find the size of the platform to be adequate for my dog. He is a wide set lab, and he was able to make it work, but I see no reason why the ladder can't be at least 6 inches wider to improve the footing for a larger dog. I plan on returning the platform. A good neoprene vest with handles is a safer way for me to get my hunting dog in the boat. I had high hopes for this ladder because of all the good reviews, but in my humble opinion the manufacturer needs to make some minor modifications to make it truly usable in my waterfowl hunting application. As always, however, Gun Dog Supply has been very easy to work with, and I am sure when I begin the return process they will make it as simple as possible.
