SEMINAR OVERVIEW
Evan Graham, former pro dog trainer and author of the Smartwork book and video series, will be in West Point, MS on Friday and Saturday, March 24-25, 2023. This seminar will cover the Basics and Transition phases of retriever training, from collar conditioning and force fetch to pile work, from double-T to pattern blinds to cold blinds.
The focus is on retriever owners and handlers ("train the trainer"), how to work with the electronic collar, and on handling skills. As you move beyond the Basics level, your dog will also have to acquire the ability to run simple double marks or more complicated multiple retrieves.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
Handling Basics and Transition is bringing the skills your retriever dog has acquired in the basic program in the yard to the field in order to do blind retrieves on land and water with confidence. Teaching, building confidence, building drive and therapy drills will keep you and your hunting dog on top of your game.
BASICS -- The vitally important foundation for all advanced skills: solid, detailed, formal basics such as handling drills, obedience, smart fetch, and more.
TRANSITION -- Learn to elevate those basic skills step-by-step toward a fully-trained state: learning drills, water force, swim-by tune-ups, advanced mark and blinds, proper handling, and more.
You are welcome to bring your dog to the seminar, but note that this is not a "train the dog" day. This is a "train the trainer" day.
The two-day Smartwork Basics and Transition Seminar will be held at Prairie Wildlife in West Point, MS. Sessions will begin at 8:00 am and continue until 5:00 pm.
The cost is $195.00 per student. As reservations are on a first-come, first-served basis, contact Steve Snell at (800) 624-6378 for further information.
Full payment is required to reserve a slot in the seminar.
YOU CAN BRING YOUR KID FOR FREE! (ages 10-16)
This is a perfect opportunity to get your kid involved in the outdoors, get your kid interested in dogs, AND build the right foundation for training dogs for the rest of their lives.
YOUR SATISFACTION IS GUARANTEED
The seminar is unconditionally guaranteed. If you don't feel that you obtained your money's worth, then it will be fully refunded.
As often as possible we will use attendees' dogs for the drills and exercises done over the course of the seminar, but there is no way of knowing how many may be used. It must also be understood that for the sake of covering substantial amounts of information, we may only run one or two dogs on any one drill or exercise.
FOOD
Meals are included in the price of the seminar. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be served on Friday, and breakfast and lunch will be served on Saturday.
