One hour of BASIC OBEDIENCE training
from Pro Trainer Robin MacFarlane.
We are really happy to have a new version of the BEST SELLING Tri-Tronics Sport series training collar back on the market.
The Sport series has been one of our best selling products since the late 1990's when the original Sportsman collars came out. Over time, the newer versions were incredibly popular, including the Sport 50, Sport 60, Sport 80, Sport Basic and Sport Combo.
Garmin based the design of the Sport PRO on the most popular version of the Tri-Tronics Sport collars -- the Sport Basic.
The Sport Basic was incredibly popular with many dog trainers because of it's ease of use and durable design. The choice of stimulation levels made it one of the best collars on the market, especially for folks looking for a high quality, no look, durable system with all of the reliability of the Tri-Tronics name.
Garmin's Sport PRO continues this history of simple innovation and design.
The Sport PRO is perfect for a wide range of dog folks looking for a tough, dependable unit that is designed for no-look, one-handed operation.
The Sport PRO is designed for folks looking for a unit that does not use an LCD Screen but has buttons, dials and toggle switches.
The Sport PRO features a small transmitter that is easy to hold and comfortable to use.
The Sport PRO has 10 levels of both momentary and continuous stimulation with tone and vibration options.
The Sport PRO has built-in Running Lights so your dog can easily be seen at night.
The Sport PRO also includes the latest version of Garmin's built-in "PRO Bark Limiter" bark collar to control nuisance barking.
The Sport PRO is a good choice for working with any breed of dog.
Ten intensity levels can be quickly adjusted with the dial on the side of the transmitter. Teach yardwork/obedience and enforce known commands with lower levels of stimulation. Use higher levels to stop unwanted chasing or to overcome strong distractions.
The Sport PRO is one of the only systems that has Tone and Vibration features that you can use without having to change the dial.
This allows you the option of teaching multiple non-stimulation commands that you can access quickly from the transmitter.
The Sport PRO uses the top of the line PRO collar.
This is the same collar that is used on the Garmin PRO 70 and PRO 550.
The Sport PRO has the built-in Bark Limiter just like the other Garmin PRO units.
Unlike the PRO units, the Sport has both an Autorise feature and a Direct Set option. I really prefer the Direct Set feature for tough barkers that need higher levels.
The Sport PRO is expandable.
Purchase a one dog system and add up to two additional dogs at any point in the future if your needs change. The Sport PRO uses a color coded 3 position toggle switch that allows you to move from dog to dog without having to look at the transmitter. The color positions on the handheld match the collar strap colors so you always know which dog is which.
Just like other PRO units, the Sport PRO has Running Lights or Beacon Lights on the collar.
These lights can be turned off and on remotely and are great for seeing your dog in the dark.
Another cool addition to the Sport PRO is the Garmin built-in Spine Mount.
This allows you the option of using several of Garmin's accessories with your Sport PRO handheld.
A few of our guys on staff have been testing the Sport PRO the last few weeks. Several are planning on switching to it as their main collar.
This is a GREAT collar and all of the new Garmin improvements make it even better.
I expect the Sport PRO to quickly become one of our best selling systems.
The 3/4 mile range Garmin / Tri-Tronics Sport PRO is lightweight, easy to use, and loaded with features. Train up to three dogs with no-look, one handed operation. Select from 10 different stimulation levels on the transmitter with positive clicks between levels. Remotely control the built-in Bark Limiter to keep things quiet, or activate the Beacon Lights for extra visibility in low light situations. Plus, the transmitter floats!

Garmin SPORT PRO Range
3/4 mile range, which is ample for most dog training or for hunting with close-working field dogs. Maximum range is based on "line of sight." This means that to get the full range out of a system there should be nothing between the transmitter and the receiver, and the terrain should be flat and open. This isn't going to happen in most places that we spend time with our dogs. The range on all of the systems that we carry will vary depending on training conditions, including weather, terrain, and the presence of cover.
Remember, too much range will never hurt, but too little could be a problem.
This product is a game changer with my 6 month old Brittany. He had basic training but was starting to take off and I could not control him even with treats. The e-collar changed this quickly, in one day. I now have complete control over the dog and I rarely have to go over level 2. He responds 80% of the time with no reminder. I highly recommend this collar to anyone with a high energy dog that they want to work with off leash. This dog will also be used for hunting, but is mainly a pet.

This was an upgrade from my 10 year old Tri-Tronics collar. WOW! It is awesome! They said you could use the handheld controller and not look at it and focus on your dog, and IT'S TRUE!!!! Every function is easy, and the different levels are effective for different distractions. Best training tool ever for my dog. I'm very happy and have an obedient happy dog :):)

Our boxer is 6 months old and before we got the Sport Pro we could not let her off leash as she would just take off. Now she comes when called, sits on command. This is all within two weeks of using the sport Pro. Usually I only need the vibrate mode to get her attention. The collar is simple to use and very effective. I would definitely recommend this collar to anyone with a dog with a attention problem.

Great training collar. I love how it doubles as a bark collar. The battery life seems to be very good. And I use the led lights on the collar much more than I thought I would when walking my dog early in the morning. I thought the tone button seemed to stick on after releasing at first, but after using it a bit, seems to be working fine now.

I had to get used to the new button placement (which I disagree with - I rarely use the shock, but I use the tone to reinforce voice commands or to send the dogs a behavior reminder) but other than that, I like it. I walk 15 dogs out on the trail and I am recommending it to anyone starting out or needing to replace their collars.

Works great. I wasn't wild about the narrow collar, but after using it for several weeks I do not see any problem with the collar. I do like that the tone and vibration buttons are at the bottom of remote. Very easy to distinguish them from the two e-stimulus buttons. The headlights on the collar are neat, but for me are not necessary. If I could change anything I would make the center red/green light not as big or as bright. I would purchase this model again and also would be glad to give it the Black River Bloodline stamp of approval. Sincerely, D. R. Bozeman www.bozemanfarms.com Black River Ziva Black River Jep

The Garmin Sport PRO is absolutely great for us and our pitbull application. We have a tough little gal to work with, so we needed something that was effective, reliable, but also easy to use. There are so many of these devices even if you do a lot of research, like I did, I still did not have a good understanding of what I needed. In my research, I noted that Gun Dog Supply had a serious amount of training info and short videos of Steve describing the products they sell. These videos are easy to watch, and I was able to narrow it down to the features that I needed for our dog breed and those that I just wanted. The Garmin Sport PRO had all, including the trusted Tri-Tronics technology that has been around for a very long time. The device I wanted needed to be simple to use and be built rugged for outdoor use. The information given by Steve in the videos enabled me to compare features as well as designs of both the collar and the hand held transmitter. In some devices, there are so many bells and whistles to use, which in reality are not going to be used correctly or even at all in my opinion. The Garmin Sport PRO has just the right balance of features, some of which are overkill, but overall the Garmin Sport Pro is really easy to setup and start working with it right out of the box. It also feels sturdy and handles well in your hand which is critical when your attention needs to be placed on the training. Thanks again to Steve and the great staff at GDS for fast friendly service and helping dog owners understand that we need training just as much, usually more, than they our dogs do! Thank you again. When I contacted gun dog about using e-collar on our 3 month old wild as can be. They said to wait till she was at least 6 months. That showed they really care about the customer and the dog. Now that our one dog is big enough we purchased the sport pro and love it. One of the best features is that all the buttons are labeled what they do, so I feel comfortable. Now myself or our kids aren't going to accidently push the wrong button.

This is a really good E-Collar. The fact that it has vibe and tone along with 10 different stimulation levels and the three dog capability is great, but the light feature is awesome and worth a little extra money compared to other models. The only drawback in my opinion is the hand held unit, or steering wheel as I call it, is a little bulky and heavy if you're used to the Sport Dog models as I am. But that's a small price to pay for the other features. I would recommend it.

I had the Tri Tronics Flyway G2 before, which is similar to the highest end Garmin training collars. I was a little concerned about the durability of the smaller transmitter, but it has been great. For duck hunting the size does not matter, but for pheasant hunting the smaller transmitter is light enough to wear around your neck for easy access. I love all the new features, such as tone, vibe, lights, and built in bark collar. This is a great unit with a LOT of functionality for the price, and my concern about durability is long gone.

It's almost magical! Our dog is a bit hard-headed and gets in a 'zone' where it's hard to get his attention, which is why we decided to try an e-collar. Did a bit of reading and called Steve at Gun Dog Supply, and he lead us in the right direction for us. We're thrilled with the ease and convenience of this product. We can switch from mode to mode without looking because of the design of the transmitter. Pup is now just over a year old, and we can actually consider training him to hunt. The battery life is fantastic too. Definitely recommend this product.

I was looking for something like the G3 Basic Sport Pro that recently gave out on me. It's been a gem and couldn't find anything like it. I was going to buy another G3 Basic off ebay when somehow I stumbled upon Gun Dog Supply. I'd seen your review on the Delta and read customer reviews on it, and it seemed like a step down from the G3. The Garmin/Tri-tronics Sport Pro is everything in the G3 and more. I appreciate the loudness of the beep and the extra features such as the light and bark limiter, but I honestly just use the basic tone and shock mode primarily and am very happy. Thanks for delivering promptly and for the extras that come with the it such as the DVD. Thanks Steve!

I have a Garmin Alpha for use in the woods and fields but I got this collar as a second collar to use for exercising our dog in the foothills around our city. I am particularly happy that the controls are a bit more accessible for my wife to use than the controls on the Alpha, particularly adjusting the stim level up or down depending on distractions (e.g., other dogs, rattle snakes, coyotes, etc.). It is also great that it has stim, tone and vibrate as we use all three for various training purposes. It does not have a tracking function so it does not take the place of my Garmin Alpha for hunting in the mountains but I think it could easily be my primary hunting collar for open fields.

This dog hunts. What do I like: Service from GunDogSupply is always awesome. This was not my first purchase from them, they always process and ship my orders quickly. The dial is easy to manipulate, low settings for low distraction situations, easy to dial in higher pulse when distractions are most challenging. Almost everything you need is included. The dials are easy to use without looking at them. Water-resistance has worked flawlessly. Used it for over a month, everything is working perfectly.
What could be improved: Collar width is narrower than I'd like, would prefer the 1" wide collar. The collar seems to rotate around on my dog's neck, doesn't stay in front where its supposed to be, easy to move, but I have to keep watching it. Even with long probes my Yellow lab with a thin flat coat is very rare but often enough to make me write about it, losing connection so pulses do not transmit to the dog (turning it up does not elicit a response while tone, lights, and vibe are all working). Making the collar tighter will help, but then she can't breathe....wider collar could help.

No Joke. This thing has been a complete game changer in terms of enjoying time with our boy!I belabored spending more than $100 for something I wasn’t sure we’d get value from but am glad I followed the solid advice on Gundog Supply and went with Steve’s Pick.
When we first got it, the dog was oblivious, so I called gun dog and Steve suggested snugging it up and making sure it rides high on his neck. Did that and BINGO... the dog responded instantly to the vibrate and quickly got the hang of it. Of course, he also started to figure out the vibrate isn’t much but adjusting the correction level to even 3 would instantly get his attention. He’s since gotten a bit more bold and will sometimes take a 6 if he’s really wanting something, but without fail comes running back.
I’ve shocked myself with it to see how bad it is and it’s just like a good static pop from an old television set..but plenty to get his attention and we haven’t had to go beyond 6
Furthermore, the boy HATES wearing a leash and loves putting this thing on because he knows he’s going to have freedom. We live in the burbs and I don’t hunt but we take him to woods, etc and he cuts loose swimming etc and loves it. This has changed my relationship with our dog and both of us enjoy not being tethered to a leash.
Few Things on the device - waterproof and battery life/charge have been great. I just get in habit of putting on the charger once a day at some point - range is awesome. He’s been almost mile away in woods and comes running - at first I thought the material on the collar was a bit strange but it had held up awesome in mud, river water, you name it! - the old school analog dial and simple buttons —LOVE IT. Can be -10 and I don’t have to take it out of pocket and I know exactly where it’s tuned. If I forget, I back the dial without looking to the stop and then count the clicks up. Simple and works great without having to pull it out of pocket and look. - we haven’t used the two dog feature but it’s great to have even with one dog because you can toggle the switch down and not worry about your dog getting zapped if you sit on it with it in your pocket.
Bottom line - Would highly recommend you stop the search and worry about if it’s inhumane to use something like this on your pup. YOU have all the control you need and it’s abiut getting the dogs attention, NOT “shockingly them. I’m a firm believer that if you use this properly it’ll be a game changer for you and your dog. I know Willy would give two paws up as well.
I can’t recommend this thing enough to anyone and Gun Dog support was fantastic. Their price was excellent too but II’d personally pay More here for their support than some bozo that doesn’t know anything about it on amaz on or elsewhere.
Stop thinking about it and GET IN THERE!!

The Garmin Pro is very easy to use. The only thing that I have to play with is making the contacts connect through the dog's hair. I have changed to the longer contacts and it helps, but still either I have to tighten collar more or turn up the dial on the transmitter at times. He usually reacts to a dial between 2-4 depending on skin contact.

My husband and I love rescuing failed hunting hounds (gun shy, retired, etc). However, in order to keep our most recent addition safe from having her nose take her away, it became obvious we needed something to 'turn' her when she found a scent. I trained her that the beep function is a treat/positive clicker sound and it has worked perfectly. I love all the functions on this collar and especially that I've never needed to actually use any other function on it! Also excited about the LED function with a mostly black dog.

It was hard to pick from so many products, but Garmin was a name that carried a reputation for quality, and they had purchased a very known and respected company in Tri Tronics, so narrowed it down for me. After reading the reviews on Gun Dog Supply I chose the Sport Pro for 3 main reasons: 1) no LED window, but a very positive and easy to use dial. Who's going to be able to look down at an LED when training the dog, and it's just some else to drain the battery and/or go wrong. 2) The light feature. At night the dog looks like he's running headlights, so he sees where he's going and I see where he is. 3) The 3/4 mile rating. My GSP runs fast and long. Glad to have the ability to make corrections when he's far away. The unit costs a tad more than I wanted to spend, but I was reminded of that old saying: Good equipment ain’t cheap, and cheap equipment ain’t good. So I made the best decision!

This is not my first collar but it is my first Garmin Tri Tronics brand collar. After using it for a couple of months I have found that it is reliable and delivers everything as promised. The LED lights are handy and the range of stimulation is excellent. Stimulation ranges from nothing to, why did I try that on myself. The only thing that bothers me is that the green LED flashes once in awhile when the unit is on and no stimulation is applied, not an issue during training for the most part (although I have worried that it was providing unwanted stimulation which after testing on myself it does not) in an early morning hunting situation though it could potentially flare your quarry if the collar is on at that time. Overall I am very happy with my purchase.

Really nice collar. I switched over from a Dogtra that was just old.
Cons: I thought the light was a great idea (our black dog becomes invisible when you let him out at night), however it isn't as effective as I was hoping. When you put on the collar, the fur under his neck blocks the light when his head is up (he has lab length fur). When he has his head to the ground sniffing you can see it. I still make him wear one of the blinking collar lights when he goes out. Garmin- move the lights to the front of the collar- not the top. Would be perfect then.
Pros: Having the option for tone, vib then stim has made a great improvement in his response. The controller seems very durable (I wish it had a belt-clip). Range has been everything I'll need working around 15 acre property. Great product and looking for many years of use!

I have not had any issues with this product so far, and it does everything I need it to. I would have to say that the best features on this device would have to be the lights, battery life, and the easy switch for stimulation level.

I have always used Tri-tronics collars. My last one was a G3 sport. I was all set to purchase a new Pro 550. Then Garmin /Tri T came out with the Sport Pro. Love it!!! Has all the features and compact size of the G3. (Nice when you have to carry Calls..whistles etc) Adding the other features of vibe and collar lights (for us 4 a.m with a chocolate lab people). Made it the best I have used yet!! I use it everyday for walks and training and recommend it highly.

Outstanding collar. Very happy with my choice. I went with Steve's choice and couldn't be happier. I was very surprised on how fast I received my order. I will always go to Gun Dog Supply for my future gun dog needs.

This unit is designed with the trainer in mind. Very functional and easy to use without taking your eyes off your dog. Battery life is very long and the smaller transmitter fits great in your hand or hanging on a lanyard. The ability to convert to a bark collar and the light are a real bonus as well. All around great product.

Great product so far. We love the LED light at night around the farm so he can wonder and we can see him. The thumb switch is great. Once you get use to the controls no need to look at it all the time.

Great customer service. When I inquired about the Sport PRO collar they had answers to all of my questions. Shipping was fast. The Garmin Sport PRO collar works great. I have used the collar for a week at a time without charging it. Looking forward to see what Garmin replaces this model within a few years.

Excellent product. This is my first hunting dog I've ever trained and my first e-collar I've used. I trained my dog without the collar for 6 months, and was positive that my dog knew his commands, but was to high strung to pay attention all the time. He would ignore my commands if he wasn't on leash. With the e-collar my pup knows he is always within reach of discipline. Also, for the price, it's a perfect training device for me.

I have only had the collar about a month and I have used it about a dozen times. The battery life is good, the range is good. So far the bark limiter feature is proving effective on one of our more skittish dogs and the running lights are nice for after dark. I would happily buy this collar again.

Good product so far. Very well designed (ergonomically) for easy use without having to take your eye off your dog. Easy to charge and use. Like the positive clicks between settings and only having 10 settings, instead of having to guess where you are on a scale of 100 or whatever. Also has separate buttons for momentary or continuous correction, and you can hit either one without moving your thumb: use the joint for one, and the end of your thumb for the other. Has tone/vibrate/bark features as well. Haven't been able to test waterproof feature yet, but there's no charging port to leak water on the collar unit. We're using to reinforce known commands on a 130 pound dog who'd decided he didn't have to listen any more, and after 5 minutes in the back yard on the lowest setting, he's once again a model dog. Highly recommend. Wish we'd purchased sooner, Gun Dog Supply is great to deal with, with Amazon equivalent pricing.

Have been using the collar for about a month now. It is used on the dog every day in the water, snow, woods, etc. Keeps a charge for a long time, no problems so far. I would highly recommend this collar if you want something simple to operate.

This is my first training collar and I'm so glad I bought it. It works great on my Brittany, I am able to take her out off lead, she will look for birds, but come in or change directions when I ask her too. I keep it on a very low setting and many times she will respond to just the vibration setting. It's worked so well for her that I purchased another collar for my crazy Boxer. Not only is this system great for taking your dog off lead, but also works well for teaching dogs not to jump on people ect. The training video that came with my order was very helpful in learning how to use it correctly, I am very happy with my purchase.

This has been an excellent tool. Our young stray (dumped near us - thanks lazy people) Cur needed to learn to not chase the donkeys and horses in the fields. Yelling didn't work. Either this device worked or the dog had to go. After only a few corrections we still have the dog! It worked as advertised. Now I have to see if I am smart enough to continue the training!!

Great until and it works better than expected!! I like the no look control and the narrow collar is great for my beagles. I've used and owned several other collars and this one suits my needs the best. I would definitely recommend the Sport Pro to anyone hunting beagles.

Has everything you could ever want. Vibrate, tone, 10 levels of stim, bark limiter, and led running lights. Uses mini usb for charging ports. If you're on the go you can charge it in the truck, if you have usb ports. It can expand up to three dogs as well. Really great collar couldn't ask for more.

Since working with the collar, there has been a stronger bond between us. Roux is very clear as to what is wanted from her. There is no longer room for confusion or inconsistency on the come command. I wish I had discovered this collar as a training aid sooner.

This is a replacement for the Tri-Tronics Sport G3 that I loved and lost the sending unit for. I picked the sport pro for the ease of use and the added bark collar function. I am VERY happy with the collar so far. The bark collar is a great function and I think the lights will help me keep track of her at night.

Good battery life and well-built device. Occasionally Bull-headed 6-yr old male lab responds well to collar. Having tone and vibration for correction prior to shock is an improvement over older collars he has worn. Well made. Happy so far.

The electronics themselves work great and I am very happy with the purchase overall, but the collar that holds the device on my dog's neck uses a traditional buckle which can be difficult to put on when he is excited. It would be better with a clip so you don't have to determine correct sizing each time and don't have to thread the strap through the buckle each time while trying to hold the dog still. Minor complaint though. Overall very happy.

"It took stimulation level 4 for my dog to respond and 5 too get the response I am looking for."
I live in the country so I let my new puppy out to pee and poop in the mornings. It's getting darker now and he's black, so I turn on the LED lights and I can see where he's at. He knows what come means but as a puppy his attention span is short. I use the vibrate to get his attention when I say come. It seems to work for now. This is my first e-collar. It is user friendly and there are not a lot of buttons to get confused over. I would have given it a 5 but I don't have any experience with other collars.

Works really good so far. Thought it might last a little longer between charges. But other than that it's a very nice collar. Seems to have good range and really like the vibrate feature . Thanks for the interest and following up on your product! If we need anything else we will be sure to contact you and your business!!

working with 1 year old male Lab puppy. I purchased my pup when he was 16 weeks old with some bad habits he acquired from his home life. He is some what difficult walking at heal and trying to control hand held leash. " Chester" has a strong desire to be our pack leader. The E collar does help in control situation. It fits easily into the hand and shirt pocket. I have difficulty determining the charge I need to set for control.

My Brittany is still a puppy. She is 0.+-24.5 months old. I haven't had the opportunity to use the collar out in the field yet, but we are using it indoors to help with jumping, biting and when she won't leave the older dog alone. Really enjoyed the video. I didn't want to hurt the dog, and the instruction on the video has some good advice. Results are pretty good. She is responding to our verbal commands with the correction included. Should be using it in the field in the next month or so. Thanks for the quick ship and advise. The video you have posted on the website is great, as the instruction book included with the collar is limited.

I was hoping for more range, but given the tree density and hilly terrain where I live, the effective range went down to less than 1000 feet quite a bit less than the three-quarter mile advertised. That said, the unit operates well. I like the flexibility and especially the beacon, since I walk after dark.

The biggest complaint is that the "60" hour run time is nowhere near what I get, which is around 32 to max 34.
Second, the plastic collar is very narrow and thinner compared to my Tritronics Sport 50. It is showing a crack on the edge and some rough spots, indicating it will tear in the semi-near future.
I also have to keep it up high or it will not stop my alpha dog from "aggressive behavior." He is in attack mode, but is nowhere near strong enough, after the start of aggression.
Granted, this is an ALPHA, ALPHA, male from East German other border protection lines, so it is very hard. When in drive, he is something else. But, I had hoped this would provide the needed stim and durability.
So, I know that my use is probably harder on the device since it's on 16 hours a day, but rarely is it used to stim since the verbal command is usually good to this well-trained dog - unless it is - not! Then it's not hot enough.
Should work well for about any other dog though!
So my grade is for me, not necessarily what it would be for you.

Unit is easy to use and effective. That being said, the battery life seems very poor. Even after an hour and half of limited use, the lower stimulation levels become non-existent and I have to turn up the stimulation quite a bit to get a response from my Springer.

My Boykin Spaniel retriever chases deer and I bought the collar to stop him. It says the range is 3/4 mile but in the woods it does not have much range. I haven't measured the range but my feeling is maybe 200 yards, then it has no effect.
